World Premiere – Late Late at Night

The Potato Shed is the exclusive Bellarine venue 8pm Saturday 7 May for the world premiere of Late, Late at Night, a stage adaptation of Rick Springfield’s compelling memoir written by Melbourne-based playwright Kieran Carroll.

Based on the New York Times best-selling autobiography, Late, Late at Night traces Springfield’s Australian and British childhood, his early music days in Australia including as guitarist for legendary Australian band Zoot (alongside Beeb Birtles of Little River Band fame and Daryl Cotton), his rollercoaster ride in 1970s America and the huge pop and acting successes of the 1980s, with massive hits including Speak to the Sky and Jesse’s Girl and as Dr Noah Drake in the legendary daytime US drama General Hospital.

Springfield’s spectacular highs were tragically followed by a fall from grace, battling life-long mental health issues, with redemption through writing his searingly honest autobiography.

Late, Late at Night is the story of a suburban boy whose journey to fame and fortune came with enormous personal costs, giving you a ring-side seat and intimate touch with a life dedicated to the artists’ muse.

Starring Sydney-based actor Jackson Carroll as Rick Springfield. Directed by Robert Johnson.
